In mid-June, members of the GELPA association took part in a study visit to one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Baltic region – the Rail Baltica construction sites in Latvia. This trip offered an excellent opportunity to gain deeper insight into the progress, scale, and strategic importance of this ambitious project for the entire region.
For a sustainable journey to Riga, we chose our long-time partner LTG Link, who ensured a comfortable and smooth trip in both directions. We appreciate working with responsible and forward-thinking passenger transport providers who value sustainability and innovation.
During our visit to Riga, we explored the global vision of the Rail Baltica project and reviewed its progress in Latvia. We had the opportunity to watch drone footage from key construction sites, giving us a comprehensive view of the project’s current status.
The visit concluded with an on-site tour of the Riga Central Railway Station construction area – one of the most technically complex and advanced segments of the project, set to become a key hub in the future European rail network.
It was fascinating to witness up close how a modern, sustainable, and EU-standard railway infrastructure is taking shape. Without a doubt, the Rail Baltica project will have a significant impact on the entire region – from improved connectivity and mobility to long-term economic growth and contribution to climate goals.
📸 The drone visuals, expert presentations, and site visit left a strong impression and reinforced our belief in the importance of this transformative project.
Rail Baltica is more than just a railway. It is a connection that will open up new opportunities for the entire region. We are proud to be part of the conversation on sustainable infrastructure and remain actively engaged in the major developments shaping our environment.
